Create final for next Tuesday (LECTURE) Printed and mounted on mat board (flush) Save final as a "screen" resolution pdf, collect all process work and place in a folder called "your_name" on the server.

Watch one of the following great films on the server:

Badlands by Terrence Malick
Playtime by Jacques Tati

Complete the Clustering map. Scan the map and determine what words/concepts are most important in terms of what the film is about. Define those, find parts of the film that reinforce those ideas. Make a list of potential ways to represent those ideas visually using the framework/types of representation we have discussed (icon, index and symbol) (ex. ET could be about "imagination" or growing up...what could represent these ideas?). Make a list of icons, indexes and symbols.

Based on this reading, determine possible metaphors for your film. Something from your map or list of icons, indexes or symbols can be used here too (at least 4 metaphors)

For next Tuesday please design the following 3 page presentation (11x17 printouts to share with a small group) You will use this in class to create concepts.

Page 1: Clustering exercise (typeset this)

Page 2: List possible icons, indexes, symbols and metaphors that you could use to represent your film and themes, messages etc found in the film. (you may want to read any scholarly articles on your film or reviews or articles about the director)

Page 3: A moodboard the communicates a potential look and feel for the packaging (styles, color, pattern, graphics, illustration style, typography etc)

The moodboard is to help visualize the possible direction(s) (type, graphics, mood, style) for the package to take...so gather stuff to inspire your design.
